Consulting

We provide specialized geoscience consulting services focused on core logging, geological interpretation, and data collection. Our approach combines practical field experience with detailed geological analysis to deliver accurate, reliable results that support informed exploration and project decisions.

Examples of Recent Consulting Projects

Project 1

This consulting project in the northern part of the Athabasca Oil Sands provided the client with an independent cold eyes geological review of the McMurray Fm reservoir at one of their SAGD project development areas.  Two key areas of focus were 1) an independent review of the geologic picks used to determine overall SAGD pay thickness, using available logs and cores; and 2) an independent review of the reservoir quality within the SAGD pay interval, using a quantitative mudstone distribution methodology.  Independent SAGD pay thicknesses were compared with values from the client and from a 3rd party evaluator.  Results of this project supported further drilling investment by the client.

Project 2

This consulting project evaluated steam rise performance at a competitor asset, using publicly-available logs, core, and observation well data to confirm steam chamber rise within a SAGD reservoir.  At this competitor asset, challenging reservoir had both mid-lean zones and mudstone baffles.  Conclusions from this analogue study provided confidence to the client in the assets within their portfolio.

Project 3

This consulting project in the southern part of the Athabasca Oil Sands provided the client with independent SAGD pay thickness and quality evaluation of their asset.  As part of this study, our regional mapping identified the presence of two separate incised valley systems in the McMurray Fm that were not previous known to the client.   Results of work led to better understanding or point bar distribution within individual valleys, and reconsideration of SAGD pad layouts and well orientations.
